So i have been battling an issue with the Bennett tabs in our 288. We noticed the hatch was dropping slowly on its own, I had it corrected when i contacted them and they sent me replacement vavle seats and O’rings. The hatch now rises and lowers perfectly fine without slowly dropping on its own.
Here is the issue: when we are on the water for a while, when we go to lower the hatch, it will hardly drop. I have to keep tapping the hatch rocker to get it to drop 5″ at a time. It only does this after boating for a while. Is it temperature in the engine bay?

What does your hatch have to do with your Bennett tabs???
Spray a little silicone spray on the ram and see if that helps…sounds like it is hanging up on the new seal!!!

My Rocket has Bennett tabs and hatch ram that run off the same Bennett pump. Contact Bennett directly they have great customer service! I had a question a few years ago about my hatch ram and they helped me troubleshot and fix it.

Well, i guess it would help if i actually gave you guys clear info! My hatch ram is driven by a Bennett Hydraulic Power Unit. Sorry, should not have mentioned tabs. My K planes are driven by a second Bennett Hydraulic Unit.

Thanks for the advise Rocket Jason, just got off the phone with with Bennett. They recommended to check all electrical connections. They also told me to try and bypass the Rocker when this happens again. So when it hangs up, I will bypass the rocker by connecting the green and yellow wires to the hot lead. If the hatch drops fine – bad rocker. If not, they said to call them back. Figured i would share the info on this sight in case anyone else runs into the issue.
Crazy deal. Hatch drops perfectly fine in the garage. Once we start running, it acts up…
I guess something is wrong if nothing that needs tinkering with!
